Well, it’s been a while since I have taken the time to write anything on the blog. If I’m being honest, that last month has been a bit overwhelming. This season of pastoring is going great, and my discipline to spend time with God daily is in a good rhythm. I could spend some more time on my physical health, and that is coming along, slower than I would like, but one step at a time.
The feelings of desperation and discouragement are rooted in what I see happening in our nation and in the world. So much violence; so much hatred; so much conflict and chaos; so much fear. Even with recent events regarding ceasefires and hostage releases, I find myself grieving for displaced people who now have rubble for homes and loved ones lost who will never come home. My heart is heavy, and sometimes the words just get caught in my throat, and I begin to tear up.
Maybe we all need to just take a moment and take a deep breath. Maybe we could just stop pointing fingers at one another and end the blame game that so many of our leaders are good at getting us to play, and take a long, hard look in the mirror. Maybe you and I should be the ones to lead others down a new path…
You’re the one who should go to the end of the line. You’re the one who should pray for that person. You’re the one who should offer peace and reconciliation. You’re the one who should forgive first. You’re the one who should make the call and check in. You’re the one who should say “I love you.” You’re the one who should serve. You’re the one who should lead. You’re the one who should start it. You’re the one who should speak up. You’re the one who should care. You’re the one who should fix it. You’re the one who should say “yes.” You’re the one who should say “no.” You’re the one who should speak the truth in love.
You’re the one… change begins in you, and with you, and for me too!
