A Higher Way

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8, 9 (Bible, New Living Translation)

Lent is the season in the church that leads us from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday. Each year, I spend 40 days meditating on scripture and reading a few of my favorite devotionals for the season. One of my new favorites is called, "Another Way Other than Our Own" by Walter Brueggemann.

Reflecting on the Isaiah passage listed above, Brueggeman writes, "There is a way into the future of your life, because God is at work doing strange wondrous things for you and in spite of you, and your job is to get your mind off your ways of need and control, to give your life over to God's large, hidden way in your life."

Since God created you and knows the inner workings of your life, give Him a chance to lead you out of the mess and confusion and on to a higher way of living life to the fullest.
